Written in the contract

General contractors often offer written contracts that contain all details of the project. It also includes an agreement by the contracting authority and the contractor in terms of payments, time, consequences for late completion and much more. Fake contractors often agree to all terms and conditions in order to get a job.

You have to ask them to take everything you have agreed written in the contract, so you will be protected. If they refuse to provide a written contract, then it would be best for you to find another supplier. No written agreement automatically means they are not real contractors.

If the general contractor is legitimate, you need to ask for evidence on business or as a service provider is insured and bonded. Insurance is necessary to prevent the client from shouldering additional costs beyond the agreed project amount. This insurance applies to other workers to be employed by the contractor.
